Critical reading is actually a two-step process: reading for understanding and analyzing what you have read. When you are asked to evaluate a piece of writing, you must first be sure that you clearly understand what you have read. Knowledge level of thinking includes common terms, specific facts, basic concepts, and principles.Comprehension level of thinking includes explain, infer, summarize, predict, and rewrite.Application level of thinking includes change, modify, apply, and use.Analysis level of thinking includes outline, classify, infer, and defferentiate.Synthesis level of thinking includes write, design, create, tell, and compose.Evaluation level of thinking includes support, judge, conclude, and jusitfy.
